Walker Corporation Brings Signature Touch To Maroochydore CBD

Walker Corporation is raising the architectural bar in the new Maroochydore CBD, revealing stunning designs for an iconic 15-story building to be called 50 First Avenue.

Walker Corporation Executive Chairman Lang Walker said the office and retail building will bring a new level of sophistication to the growing CBD.

“This is a signature statement from Walker with a beautiful façade that is both attractive and functional, offering exceptional facilities in a prominent coastal location opposite Sunshine Coast Council’s new city hall,” Mr Walker said.

“50 First Avenue symbolises our placemaking vision for Maroochydore CBD as we work with our Council and SunCentral partners to create a dynamic location that people love to work and socialise in.”

“50 First Avenue offers prime A Grade office space with some of Maroochydore’s largest floorplates, measuring more than 1000 sqm per level,” Mr Walker said.

There is also a unique enclosed rooftop level on 50 First Avenue which takes advantage of stunning views of the beach and hinterland as well as a bold, high-ceiling entry lobby with cafe.

Walker has recently lodged the development application for 50 First Avenue with Economic Development Queensland.

SunCentral Maroochydore Chairman Morgan Parker said 50 First Avenue is a very significant investment by Walker Corporation and the proposed building will be catalytic for the city centre.

“Maroochydore CBD continues to grow rapidly as the Sunshine Coast’s central hub for business and commerce and spectacular buildings like 50 First Avenue will add another dimension of class to the city centre,” Mr Parker said.

Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce President Brendan Bathersby, said 50 First Avenue will attract the best in business.

“Without doubt, 50 First Avenue is going to be on the radar of many big Australian companies looking to bring their workforce to Maroochydore,” Mr Bathersby said.

“Maroochydore CBD will eventually be home to more than 20,000 people and this calibre of building will ensure talented staff thrive in perfect surrounds.”

50 First Avenue will take advantage of the new high-speed submarine cable giving the Maroochydore CBD some of the fastest data rates in Australia.

Sustainability is at the forefront of all Walker buildings and 50 First Avenue will be built to achieve a NABER's 5 star energy rating.

The building will provide tenants with first class end-of-trip facilities including bike storage, showers, amenities, and lockers for tenants.

50 First Avenue will be connected to the underground Automated Waste Collection System, installed within the Maroochydore City Centre for a cleaner and more attractive CBD and is reflective of the Sunshine Coast’s strong sustainability credentials.

The Maroochydore City Centre project serves as a significant opportunity for companies to relocate and grow in an outstanding lifestyle region within Australia’s Sunshine Coast, with the Priority Development Area delivering 160,000 square metres of commercial and retail space. The $2.5 billion investment in infrastructure and buildings by Walker Corporation will make Maroochydore CBD one of the most connected cities in the world.

The 53-hectare city is just minutes from the beach, creating the optimal location for a relaxed and balanced lifestyle. Maroochydore will also include large open spaces with bike and walking tracks surrounding lakes and parks.
